Queensland Seniors Week, August 18-26, 2018, will shine the spotlight on our elders and the various contributions they make to our community while promoting positive community attitudes towards ageing.
Seasons Aged Care’s eight communities across South-East Queensland are holding events for residents and their families to celebrate the week and allow residents to connect socially.
Seasons Aged Care’s Chief Executive Officer Nick Loudon says that one of the major aims of Seniors Week is to reduce social isolation, enhance community connection and intergenerational relationships and this is what Seasons is planning to do with their program of events.
“Maintaining social connections and encouraging intergenerational relationships is a big part of our approach here at Seasons. Our Seniors Week events are designed to encourage all of our residents to socialise with each other and their loved ones while enjoying entertainment and fun,” says Mr Loudon.
“Each community chose their own events based on the interests of their residents – so activities range from country music, a mini Olympics, through to Rock n Roll extravaganzas and mini festivals.
“Music plays a big role in our events as it’s often a connection to favourite memories and forms a common thread for our residents.”
Seasons Kallangur is hosting a Rock n Roll 60s event with live music and dancing.
